Prof. Thomas Sakschewski

Thomas Sakschewski has been Professor of Event Management at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin since 2018, giving lectures in Event Technology and Management. In his contribution to the Event Education Symposium 2018, he describes the acquisition of skills in the event industry as the most important challenge for sustainable development.

In his most recent publications, he has intensively dealt with the application of agile methods in the project management of events and with the necessary skills in the sub-markets of the event industry. Here he develops and describes competence models for the four essential roles in the planning and implementation of events. These competency models form the basis for the definition of social and personal competencies in the project management of events and are empirically proven with the AL-Pro research project.

Events on public streets, squares and in parks shape Berlin's unique cityscape. Unfortunately, these many outdoor events also have a negative impact on our environment, on our climate and contribute, among other things, to increased waste generation and an increased release of CO2 emissions. How a climate-neutral design of large events, street festivals, markets and free open airs can be successfully implemented in Berlin is dealt with by the cooperation and research project "Guidelines for climate-neutral events in Berlin" of the GREEN LEAGUE in scientific supervision of the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin. The project is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Environment, Transport and Climate Protection.
